Future developments

The classification system for hotels and guesthouses in Ireland is currently under review. The current system is in operation for 9 years and needs to be updated to better reflect the changing needs of our visitors and guests. The new system will reflect the criteria currently operating in some of the most up to date systems throughout Europe including the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland as well as criteria specific to the Irish Market. The new system it is expected will take the form of an initial self assessment by the property followed by a full on site inspection which will take place annually. Such visits are notified to the property in advance.

It is expected that this review will be completed by the second quarter of 2006 and this site will be updated to reflect the new system.
